Bhaichung To Mohun Bagan: Pay A Compensation Of One Crore Rupees
The ongoing battle between Mohun Bagan and Bhaichung Bhutia took a new turn when the latter’s lawyer claimed to have asked for defamation charges against the former and demanded rupees one crore as compensation…
The claim was made when the Indian skipper and his legal counsel Ushanath Banerjee met the arbitrator Amarendra Sharan in New Delhi. The whole affair began when Mohun Bagan reportedly show caused the Nehru Cup Player of the Tournament and distributed copies of the same to the scribes, which didn’t go well with the Sikkimese Sniper.
Earlier Bhaichung had stated how deeply he was hurt by the behaviour of certain Mohun Bagan officials who instead of resolving whatever issue they had with him, went to the media.
“Things could have been managed in a better way. They could have just picked the phone and spoken to me. That’s how things management works. They went for the letter instead and distributed it in the media.
“It just shows how poorly things get managed here,” Bhaichung had reasoned.
Ushanath Banerjee mentioned that his client’s name has been brought into disrepute and that they sought financial recompense from the Green and Maroons.
“Bhaichung is a big name and the false charges levied against him have injured his reputation,” informed Banerjee.
However, when contacted Mohun Bagan on this latest development, they chose to remain mum and added that they are yet to receive any official word on this.
“All I can say at the present moment is that we haven’t received any letter making such claims and hence, I wouldn’t comment on this,” said Mohun Bagan official, Debashish Dutta.
